When we think heritage, it’s hard to overlook the rich history and fly-fishing traditions that come from the western mountains here in Maine. The Magalloway River and Rangeley region were the perfect inspiration for this one. Thinking back to the early years, when cork wasn’t accessible, rod smiths used wood. Following some exploration on our lathe using some local wood, we didn’t know we were on the cusp of a resurgence that would bring wood grips back with a vengeance.
Bucking the norms of modern-day mass production, this one came together with ease, giving it a vintage rustic appearance authentic to the region. Its reliability in both action and performance is undeniable. The Magalloway screams heritage and is a tribute to rodsmiths and simpler times through a classic design.
From its beautiful burl wood grip and wood grained thread on the wraps, to the agate stripping guides and engraved hardware on the reel seat, this one is sure to become your newest heirloom.
EFFECTIVE 11/1/2025- The 2026 Magalloway takes our most striking rod and makes it even more exceptional. We’ve paired its signature burl wood grip — long admired for its beauty and balance — with a full set of New England–made Recoil guides. These high-performance guides flex and rebound to shape, resist wear, and deliver smoother line flow and greater casting efficiency.
Together, they create a rod that’s both a high-performance tool and an heirloom in the making — one that feels alive in your hand and built to last for generations. Precision-crafted, meticulously finished, and still remarkably well-priced for its craftsmanship, the Magalloway stands as proof that beauty and performance can coexist perfectly.
