Built around our Maine-made, 9-foot Penobscot Bay in 7, 8, 9 or 10 weight, this package is for the angler chasing fish that have simply outgrown the everyday trout setup. Great Lakes steelhead. The Penobscot Bay is fast, powerful and unapologetically strong. It was designed to move serious line, turn over big flies and stay composed when a fish decides the fight isn’t over. The matte charcoal blank, sun-kissed wraps and unmistakable Maine Fly Company build give it plenty of character, but this rod earns its reputation through performance. Around our shop, we’ve always described it the same way: it’s a cannon.
For this freshwater package, we pair it with the brand-new 2027 Lamson Guru X 2-Pack in Blue Steel, giving you one premium reel and two fully interchangeable spools so you can change your entire approach without changing rods.
The 7wt and 8wt packages receive the Guru X -7+, while the 9wt and 10wt packages step up to the Guru X -9+. Fully CNC-machined aluminum construction, a large arbor and Lamson’s sealed conical drag give you the durability, retrieval speed and stopping power you want when the fish on the other end can actually test your equipment.

Spool One — Scientific Anglers Amplitude Textured Anadro
Your primary floating setup is the Scientific Anglers Amplitude Textured Anadro — a line designed specifically around big rivers, big rigs and serious freshwater fish.
Its extended rear taper provides exceptional line control and mending ability, while its heavier profile helps turn over indicators, weighted flies, streamers and larger multi-fly rigs. Textured running and tip sections reduce friction, improve shooting performance and help keep line moving when you need distance.
This is the spool you reach for when you’re fishing high in the water column, throwing big presentations, managing long drifts or covering serious water for trout, steelhead and salmon.
Spool Two — Airflo Sixth Sense 2 Sinking
When the fish aren’t looking up, swap spools.
Your second Guru X spool comes loaded with an Airflo Sixth Sense 2 Sinking line, giving the same rod an entirely different gear. Its low-stretch construction helps keep you connected to the fly, while the sinking profile gets your presentation below the surface and into the water where bigger fish often hold.
Throw the streamer. Get it down. Stay connected. Find the fish that everybody drifting over the top never reaches.
